Reply

1

Chip Lupo, Credit Card Writer

@CLoop

Applicants can check their U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card application status online or by phone at 1-877-625-5249. For both methods, you'll need to provide your online banking ID or name, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Code so that U.S. Bank can match you to your application.

How to Check Your U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card Application Status Online

  1. Go to the U.S. Bank application status page.
  2. Give your online banking ID or name, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Code when prompted.
  3. View your U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card application status: approved, denied, or pending.

Typically, you'll receive U.S. Bank's decision on your application within 7-10 business days. Many applicants are approved much sooner than that. If you haven't heard back within a reasonable time frame, you can always call customer service to ask about the delay.

You may not like what you learn when you check your application status. But those who get denied can still ask U.S. Bank to reconsider by calling (800) 947-1444.

The U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card is available to people with bad credit. That means people with credit scores below 640 have a shot at getting approved for the U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card.

Secured cards are easier to get than unsecured cards because they require a deposit to open the account, which U.S. Bank will use as collateral to secure the account. The amount of your deposit will be your credit limit, in most cases. That said, though approval is likely,...

You can get a U.S. Bank Secured credit card cash advance at pretty much any ATM. Before you go in, make sure you have a PIN. If you don't have a PIN, you can request one by calling customer service at 800-285-8585.

With that said, cash advances are quite costly. You will be charged a fee of 4% (min $10) as well as interest that immediately begins accruing at a rate of 25.49% (V)....

Yes, the U.S. Bank Secured will do a hard pull. You can apply for it with bad credit though.

There is no way to get pre-approved for the U.S. Bank Secured.

A hard pull usually causes an applicant's credit score to drop by 5-10 points. Most people's scores bounce back within 3-6 months with responsible credit management, but it can take up to 12 months. You can learn more about how to minimize...

The U.S. Bank Secured Visa® Card does not offer rental car insurance. But there are other U.S. Bank cards that do have this benefit, which covers theft, damage, valid loss-of-use charges imposed and substantiated by the auto rental company, administrative fees and reasonable and customary towing charges, due to a covered theft or damage to the nearest qualified repair facility. Cardholders are covered up to the actual cash value of rental vehicles with an original manufacturer's suggested retail price...

I think they rat you out. Had the card for about five months with $300 secured limit. I was notified a former landlord has garnished the card for a judgement (I had honestly forgotten about the eviction entirely). I can only assume US Bank notified my former landlord that they had some of my money ripe for the taking. Otherwise it was a good card. My credit score only went down two points when they closed the account so I'm not sweating it too much.

It is so hard to graduate to unsecured! After 1 year with perfect payments I was denied with 650 credit! If you need secured please do Discover! They even offer rewards!

$5000 deposit. So my credit limit is $5000. I kind of dislike the $750 cash advance limit, but overall its helping build personal credit and soon will graduate into an unsecured card with the deposit being returned. So far. So good.

Now I can't log in to my account because they have changed systems and its asking me to verify zip code....how am I supposed to friggin- do that when I don't know the address they have taken it upon themselves to forward my mail too. Been on hold 45mins, still no one has picked up.

The US Bank Secured Credit Card was definitely a big help at getting my credit back on track but no benefits of a increased limit or becoming unsecured.

It is a good card if you don’t have any outstanding judgements against you. They froze my account and took all my money for paying what I owed. Goodbye 700$ I had no notifications beforehand. That was messed up.

This card helped build credit for sure... covid times right now though and so they closed my account without notification. Every month I call them to see if they are going to return my money and they give me a new date to expect my check. But every time I call they still haven't sent it.

I can't recommend this card unless you are ok with a lot of waiting (75 days so far) and hold time/call transfers to ask for your money back.

Do NOT get this card. I had this card for 3 months with the maximum credit line and they closed it all because...

I paid the full balance with an out of state checking account.

They wanted me to submit my bank statement to prove I was the owner (which I did) and swore it was not closed, only blocked ( which is a lie because they reported it as "closed due to credit grantors request" to all 3 credit bureaus) I haven't had a transaction since July, yet they still have not returned my $5,000 security deposit! This card is more trouble than its worth. If you want to build credit with a secured card, you're better off with Discover It Secured Card or Navy Federal Credit Union's secured credit card.

Sincerely,
Still waiting for my ?

This is a horrible card. When I want to close the account after paying full due amount they told me it will take up to 60 days to get your money back. US Bank is running a scam where they hold customers money for that long period even though they pay off full due amount. I would avoid this card at all cost. Also to close your account you have to write a letter or fax and there is no way you can close it by phone or via e-mail or by accessing your account online.
