Arthritis
The most common cause of thyroid problems is an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s disease. Other causes can include certain medications, radiation therapy, surgery, infections, dietary deficiencies, and hormone imbalances. Some health conditions greatly affect the health of the thyroid gland. Diseases like diabetes, adrenal insufficiencies, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer, to name a few. In addition, aging can also cause the thyroid to get sluggish and slow.
Emergency Care
“I have a history of terrible migraine headaches and usually had to go to the emergency room for injections. Once I started Hormone Replacement Therapy, the headaches went away.”
Urinary Incontinence
A woman’s anatomy is complex, intricate and changes over time. For most of history, vagin*l issues or conversations regarding the vagin* have been difficult to have and are often deemed taboo. Women tend to shy away from these conversations, even with their medical professionals. As women age and undergo hormonal changes, a weakened vagin*l wall, loss of lubrication, lack of sexual satisfaction, and urinary incontinence can be common. At the Madison Women’s Clinic, we hope to change this pattern and allow women to have open and honest discourse about vagin*l concerns. If you are a woman in Rexburg or Rigby, Idaho, feel free to speak to us about your vagin*l health and the options for vagin*l rejuvenation.

Endometriosis
A lot of problems can be avoided or treated early if a baseline has been established; things like endometriosis, or PCOS. A young woman may not see a visit to a gynecologist as a priority but as she matures, she will see the wisdom that comes with knowledge.

Mental Health
Mental. What are you doing to strengthen your mental health or mental exercise? We know by now, the detrimental effect that stress has on our body. This includes the toll it takes on our brain health. Mental exercises include things like games that make you think such as Suduko, crossword puzzles, Scrabble or learning a new skill. Learning helps create new neural pathways. Mental health can be classified as things we do to calm our mind and manage stress. Meditation along with breathing are misunderstood tools when it comes to alleviating stress. They are important habits to create and establish long before your brain starts showing signs of slowing down.

Hypothyroidism
A thyroid condition is a disorder of the thyroid gland, which is a small butterfly-shaped gland in the neck. The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones, which play an important role in regulating the body’s metabolism. There are two main types of thyroid conditions: hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
Thyroid
Thyroid conditions can be complex and it is important to get accurate information and guidance from a qualified individual. It’s not a simple condition that allows an easy route to determining the root cause of a thyroid condition. Before we get into some of the possible root cause issues, let’s look at the symptoms of thyroid disease.

Ultrasound
Madison Women’s Clinic was amazing to work with throughout my pregnancy. All of the doctors, ultrasound techs, and secretaries were kind, professional, and helpful. We delivered with Toni Frahm and were impressed with our experience.”
MRI
Diagnosing fibroids involves various methods of imaging. Ultrasound of the uterus or Hysteroscopy can be used to look for lesions. At times, an MRI can be ordered and even a biopsy of the tissue if your doctor deems it necessary. They can sometimes be difficult to diagnose because of other factors such as obesity.

Lesions
Fibroids are more common than you think. As many as one in five women will experience fibroid growth in their lifetime. It’s not common for women under the age of 20 to develop fibroids. Uterine fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) growths that develop in the uterus. They can vary in size from small, pea-sized growths to large, bulky lesions. We typically see these lesions in the muscle wall of the uterus but they can also be found just under or outside of the uterine lining. It is thought that fibroids are caused by hormones or a genetic predisposition.
