Celebrating the success of others is huge. Especially when it’s a genuine shout out with meaning behind it. For example, rather than just announcing that a colleague achieved a milestone or accomplished something noteworthy, take the time to set the stage and provide context for fellow employees to see/understand why this is a cause for celebration. Those “in the know” may appreciate it. But outsiders might fail to realize the significance without context of the situation and achievement. Plus, by providing details, it helps reinforce the accomplishment and will go a long way in making the recipient feel special. 😁

I think it’s important to consider the role of leaders. Leaders hold tremendous power and influence. I believe leaders have a responsibility to support the growth and advocate for others, and foster an organizational culture where psychological safety and in turn, innovation can thrive. Recognizing strengths and then advocating for others when one is in a position of power, is one way to show appreciation in an impactful way.
